I QUIT! *SLAM*
So, maybe you don’t know, but I quit my job. Not like, “I QUIT!” and slam the door. No. More like, “This is no longer the place for me. Thanks for the great opportunities here. Please consider this my two weeks notice.”
That was a week ago. So now it’s the one week mark. The middle Friday. Next Friday is my last day. I’m excited (a lot) and sad (but just a little). I like the people here, but I don’t like the work and how the work makes the people behave. It also makes me weary and useless to appropriately pursue taking care of my husband and home and recording my album (now much more seriously in the works than ever before).
So what’s next? Well, I’m glad you asked. I want to work at the ZOO! Yep. Not as a pooper scooper. They have an opening in guest services (and management of guest services, but I may be under qualified for that position). It would be processing and welcoming the school groups that come, dealing with members, and yes, selling tickets. It would be so cool to be outside, especially this time of year when it’s brisk, people are excited about Christmas, they’ve got Christmas Carols piped through the speakers (pretty soon), lights twinkling, and slightly frosted cheeks! I could wear sweaters! In my office job, I still get one half-day paid vacation, so I’m taking this afternoon off to go talk to the zoo people. I so hope they like me!
My other promising option is working at the day care center at my church on Monday-Fridays. It would also be great because I would get off every day at 3:30 (instead of 5:30!), and they would like to use me to teach some basic music to the kids as well. It’s also a great opportunity, and I’m interviewing on Tueday.
All kinds of changing going on in the Lofbomm estate. Adam just got hired yesterday at the SunTrust Bank as a teller, and he’ll start on the 18th (the Monday after my last Friday at Greenebaum and the Saturday of his art show!). We’re excited about that opportunity. He has not been getting the regular hours at Sportsman’s Grill that he was promised, so he’s been looking for a change.
This morning, Adam had a few guys over to start a guys Friday bible study at 6:30. I think they had a really nice time. I’m glad they’re doing that. Now, I need to connect more deeply with some girls.
Tonight we’re flying to Chicago for my 5-year high school reunion. I know, how could I be so old!? :). I’m glad they’re having a 5-year. I’m excited to see people. I always thought that my class was full of some great people. We had cliques, but they weren’t divided like they are in other schools. They were pretty fluid. I’m excited for Adam to meet people and for them to meet him. He’s the best. He even got a haircut this week to maximize his hotness factor. The Saturday night party will be at my parents’ house because it’s so close to the school. That will be fun. I’m excited to get home and see Mom and Dad, too. I love my parents.
Okay, that’s all for now. I can’t wait to go to the zoo!
