A Story of Epic Proportions

Posted by Lofbomms on Apr 22nd, 2004

What follows is a story of peril, power, intrigue, blame, drama, fear, friendship, and heroism. This is not for the faint of heart…

Last night, Adam and I worked under the employ of Music Television… that’s right, MTV. How? Well, a friend hooked us up, but that’s not important. What’s important is that the ensuing story is true.

MTV-owned Country Music Television station, CMT, hosted an after-party for the Flameworthy Awards held last night in Nashville. Our post at this party was the “photo op” with Dolly Parton. This was actually a photo op with a green screen that then digitally added Dolly beside you. Steve The Photographer was acquainting Adam and Your Hero with our very important duties and taking some fun practice shots of us with Dolly. Some other workers came for a fun photo op before the party VIPs arrived. Little did Your Hero know that a storm was brewing as these pictures circulated among the staff.

And then it hit! Adria, the head producer of the party came in a flurry to the photo op. “I have seen some of the pictures circulating, and they do not have the CMT logo on them! What happened to the logo!?! It has to be there! It is what we agreed upon!” Apparently the party sponsor, the company bringing you free pictures with Dolly Parton, was supposed to be digitally added to the corner of each picture in addition to said blonde bombshell.

Immediately, Steve The Photographer was on his cell phone, pacing, cigarette in hand, frantically consulting with his designer in LA. “Indeed,” his designer said, “the CMT logo was supposed to be included in the digital Dolly design, and I forgot.” LA designer-man had made a fatal mistake, and MTV was going to have his head. Steve The Photographer got off his cell phone disappointed. “The bummer is that now I’m going to have to fire him.”

“Oh no!” thought Your Hero, “We have to save the absent-minded-LA-designer’s job and Steve The Photographer’s pride!” Your Hero leapt into action. Your Hero held up a shopping bad with the colorful logo of CMT, “We can hang this in the green screen, and it will show up in the background of every picture! We are saved!” Adam and Steve The Photographer cheered, and Steve The Photographer skittered off to Adria The Big Wig.

Is all saved? Was it that easy? Stay tuned…

Happy camper

Posted by Lofbomms on Apr 12th, 2004

I’ve been working on my website– I hadn’t updated it since October. It’s nice to actually have a new thing or two to share on it. It’s still a work in progress, though. So am I, but at least I finally wrote a new song. Well, so far it’s words to another song’s melody, so I have to make a new melody. Still, it’s a good thing after a long long time of nothing.

Adam and I had a nice weekend. He turned 25 on Thursday, and we went dancing, and learned the Rumba, Foxtrot, Swing, and Waltz. Just the basic steps for them, but we really got them well. We dance really well together. I’m glad he enjoyed his birthday. The rest of the weekend was really really quiet. We spent Saturday afternoon reading at the park, and we watched three movies. Easter night we spent with Jack and Jenny (Jack is our dear friend who is marrying us). It was nice.

Alas, it is Monday, it is raining, and my throat is scratchy, but I’m a happy camper. Cassandra and I just counted that she’ll be married six weeks from now, and Adam and I will be married in 11 weeks. The time flies.

I’m off to meet the Lofbomms at Granny Nita’s for dinner. Chow. Ciao.
